The British Petroleum (BP) Stock Certificate has a simple side vignette of two Atlas-like men holding up two hemispheres of the Earth.  The top vignette has the well-known BP logo as seen in its many gas stations throughout the world.   BP has transformed from a local oil company into a global energy group, employing over 96,000 people and operating in over 100 countries. BP is one of the world's largest energy companies, providing its customers with fuel for transportation, energy for heat and light, retail services and petrochemicals products for everyday items.   The 20 April 2010 explosion of the Deepwater Horizon, led to an oil spill that contaminated a vast area of United States marine environment along the Gulf of Mexico. The catastrophe severely depressed BP's stock price as well as its reputation. The estimated date for the well's permanent closure is between August and October 2010. Cleanup along the marshes and coasts is expected to take much longer.
